Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful celebrated recycling — and America Recycles Day — with a Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting to announce its enhanced electronics recycling trailer.

With help from two local sign makers (Armadillo Signs and Monday Sign Service), Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful (KNB) enhanced its electronics recycling trailer with a decorative wrap, creating an education tool in the process.

“The new artwork on our trailer is representative of our mission to reduce waste and promote beautification and recycling,” said Katie Blevins, KNB Executive Director. “It’s a conversation starter that gives us the opportunity to share that message with the community.”

The trailer was debuted at the 2017 Texas Blueberry Festival where Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful cleared over 8.5 tons of litter from downtown Nacogdoches during the festival. It has also been used to collect technology recycling during KNB Techcycle Saturday collection events. Over 3 tons of electronics recycling has been collected by KNB during 2017.

In 2017, Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful was assisted in recycling and litter abatement by volunteers from the Nacogdoches County Board of Realtors, the East Texas Jeep Club, Nacogdoches Jaycees, Etech, First United Methodist Church, and Nacogdoches High School. SFA organizations that assisted include the Office of Multicultural Affairs, SFA NAACP, Sigma Lambda Gamma, Beta Alpha Psi, Lumberjack Cultural Association, Men of Achievement, Delta Delta Delta, SFA’s The BIG Event, PRIDE Nac, Fashion in Motion, and the African Student Organization.

Katie and her KNB Super Recyclers encourage you to participate in America Recycles Day, whether it be through taking the #BeRecycled Pledge or participating in a special activity.
