In just over two hours, 200 enthusiastic Dow employees planted 300 trees along a two-mile nature trail in Pearland, Texas, as part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup and Dow’s Propel to Excel leadership development program.

As part of Keep Pearland Beautiful’s kickoff of the Great American Cleanup, the Dow volunteers planted the trees around the John Hargrove Environmental Complex (JHEC) Nature Trail in Pearland. The Nature Trail will have its official dedication on Wednesday, March 23. In 2017, a nature center will also be added to the JHEC, home to Pearland’s recycling center. The nature center will provide educational resources about the native species and wildlife found in the Pearland area.

This is the first year in which Keep Pearland Beautiful teamed up with Great American Cleanup national sponsor Dow to collaborate on its Propel to Excel leadership program. In 2015, in partnership with Keep Houston Beautiful and as part of the Great American Cleanup, 200 Dow employee volunteers worked on a beautification project at Crockett Elementary School and in Houston’s Washington Avenue Arts District. Dow is marking its ninth year as a national sponsor of the Great American Cleanup with more than 1,000 Dow employees and their families and friends expected to volunteer at more than 30 locations throughout the country.
