Keep Sarasota County Beautiful presents inaugural America Recycles Day event.

Keep Sarasota County Beautiful, located in Sarasota, Florida, partnered with the Sarasota County Solid Waste Department for its 2018 America Recycles Day (ARD) event. The event featured games and activities, bales of recycled materials for viewing, composting demonstrations, tours of a landfill, live music, a student art content, and displays of garbage and recycling trucks.

Students, representing elementary, middle and high schools, submitted entries to the contest – all of which were comprised of 90% material currently accepted in the Sarasota County recycling program. Some of the projects were submitted by individuals, and others were submitted by groups.

At the event, residents also had the opportunity to take the #BeRecycled Pledge – a promise to actively choose to live a recycled lifestyle by committing to “Reduce. Reuse. Repurpose. Recycle.” in all aspects of one’s daily life.

Additional vendors participating in the event included the county’s waste vendor — Waste Management — as well as Waste Pro, City of Venice, City of Sarasota, City of North Port, local artist Emma Bruno, Precious Plastics, Waste Corporation of America (WCA) and Aria Energy Corp.
