Waco, Texas – Hundreds of volunteers from Baylor University and elsewhere in Waco participated with the Heart of Texas Urban Gardening Coalition (HOT UGC) and Keep Waco Beautiful (KWB) in celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Baylor students with the university’s Campus Kitchens Project worked over the holiday weekend to prepare, assemble and deliver hundreds of box lunches to volunteers with the HOT UGC on the MLK Day of Service. The students also volunteered alongside others at eight community gardens, World Hunger Relief Farm and a Brazos River cleanup with KWB.

Additionally, more than 30 people landscaped Calvary Community Garden, across from Calvary Baptist Church. The garden was one of 11 beautification sites organized by HOT UGC and KWB.
