Trash Bash at the Border-Year Two

Over 150 volunteers showed up to help clean up the South Carolina side of the Savannah River for the second year of the Trash Bash at the Border! Two mayors from opposite sides of the river challenged each other to see which mayor could get the most volunteers to join him in a cleanup of the city. This year, Mayor Williams from North Augusta, South Carolina got more volunteers to turnout than Mayor Davis from Augusta, Georgia. The 2nd annual Trash Bash at the Border was also held on a major college football day, when Carolina competes with Georgia. This football rivalry translated well into a friendly competition between the two cities, in two different states, yet share the same river. Overall, it’s a win for everyone, the river is cleaner, the community is cleaner and a good time was had by all.
