Welcome to the Tiger Prairie at Katy High School
After two years of cover crops, soil remediation, and native seed planting, the Tiger Prairie is born! The Tiger Prairie is a restoration and outdoor classroom project at Katy High School in Katy, Texas. This one-acre area was originally turf grass but is now in the beginning stages of becoming a native Texas coastal prairie. Additionally, the Tiger Prairie helps with flood mitigation and serves as a model of conservation best-practices, helping our community reap the many benefits gained by restoring native green spaces in urban communities.
