Keep Belmont Beautiful calls on individuals to help maintain city flower beds.

Flowers on Main Street in Belmont, North Carolina, are thriving this summer thanks to a new program in town called “Flower Power.” The program, piloted by Keep Belmont Beautiful, invites volunteers to sign up to help maintain more than 30 flower beds in the downtown area.

The city handles the planting, mulching, and watering of the raised beds, while Flower Power teams help weed and tend to the flowers. Volunteers, who are assigned to specific raised beds, are provided gloves and reflective vests.

The program was initiated by Keep Belmont Beautiful board member Susan Wall.
