Through the Keep America Beautiful Community Restoration and Resiliency Fund, Keep Highway Park Beautiful supports restoration effort.

Keep Highway Park Beautiful, located in Lake Placid, Florida, continues working with volunteers to clean and restore Highway Park Cemetery with funding provided from the Keep America Beautiful®Community Restoration and Resiliency Fund (CRRF).

The Highway Park Cemetery, plotted in 1935, is a public, historic cemetery administered by volunteers who donate their time, personal funds, and energy to maintain it. Problems, such as natural weathering and lack of funds, were compounded by Hurricane Irma in 2017. Following the storm, the cemetery was in even greater need of restoration with many of the gravestones falling over or being uprooted by trees, fences blown down, and damage to the area.

Recent improvements include removing damaged trees, replanting, and installing a new sign.

Keep Highway Park Beautiful has used previous CRRF grants for several projects, including repairing the roof and several broken windows at the Highway Park Resource Center and restoring the Highway Park Veterans Memorial.

A redication of Highway Park Cemetery and Veretans Memorial is set for Saturday, Aug. 31.
