Keep North Little Rock Beautiful collects litter in and around banks of the Arkansas River.
Keep North Little Rock Beautiful was joined by more than 30 volunteers at the 5th annual Great Arkansas River Cleanup. Each year, the event provides an opportunity for individuals to give back to the community, improve the local environment, and help keep the Arkansas River clean.
Volunteers on foot and in boats collected 24 bags of litter and 2,500 pounds of larger pieces of debris, including shopping carts and tires, around the North Little Rock and Little Rock sides of the river.
The Great Arkansas River Cleanup is part of the Great Arkansas Cleanup taking place each fall from September through October. During this cleanup series, thousands of people across Arkansas remove litter form roadways, shorelines, parks and other public spaces. This initiative also follows the Keep America Beautiful® Great American Cleanup®, occurring annually in the spring.
