The Great Bud Light River Run came to the Portland, Oregon, area on Saturday, Aug. 26, with 30 volunteers pitching in to remove litter and beautify the Dabney State Recreation Area outside of Portland.

The volunteers, in partnership with SOLVE, Keep America Beautiful and Bud Light, picked up nearly 80 pounds of litter and cigarette butts along the shoreline of the Sandy River and around an island in the river in slightly more than an hour’s time.

Marcus Trufant, a former Seattle Seahawk, joined the volunteers during the cleanup.

Following the morning cleanup, Trufant and the volunteers spent the afternoon floating three miles down the Sandy River to the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Site. The volunteers were then bussed to Henry’s Tavern in Downtown Portland to celebrate their work and enjoy refreshments provided by Bud Light.
