Keep America Beautiful has embraced a remote work policy to attract the best and brightest from all over America. If you live within 60 miles of Stamford, you will work at our national headquarters. Keep America Beautiful’s national headquarters is walking distance from the Stamford Metro-North train station with a shuttle bus also available. The office features a free parking garage and gym in the building and is conveniently located near great restaurants, bars, shopping and beautiful Mill River Park.

Regional Director – Central

Position Regional Director – Central

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Position Location: Remote

Central Region – AL, AR, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MO, OH, TN, WV, WI

Keep America Beautiful is seeking a Regional Director to manage affiliate marketing and development, mentor and build existing affiliate capacity and serve as a project manager on sponsor driven affiliate projects.

Candidates will:

  • Work to identify and pursue cities and states with visits, presentations, presentations, calls, coalition building and follow up
  • Work with local contacts and state leaders (where applicable) to set up community and affiliate training workshops
  • Train new affiliates
  • Coordinate and monitor new affiliates in stages of certification (i.e., reporting, regular progress check-ins)
  • Manage KAB National Trainers bringing affiliates to certification
  • Serve as project manager on development and execution of corporate projects & community engagement events
  • Manage and monitor grant execution and reporting in region
  • Work with affiliates to promote and implement KAB programs
  • Coordinate with other Regional Directors and Affiliate Operations team to plan network-wide training
  • Provide counseling and monitoring to affiliates in region on fundraising, coalition building, board development and other management practices.
  • Monitor affiliates in President’s Circle and assist w/reporting requirements
  • Gather and share stories from the network for newsletters, website and other publications
  • Regular interaction with state leaders. or more as needed. Participate in state led affiliate calls
  • Present and train on State Leader calls and at State Affiliate conferences
  • Solicit info on trends and issues in the network
  • Provide recognition and accolades to affiliates to encourage continued success
  • Reconcile annual affiliate fees and follow-up as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified candidates will have a proven track record in customer service, strong organizational skills, time management and ability to handle multiple ongoing projects. They must have the ability to train and motivate affiliates.

Other skills needed are:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and capability of working collaboratively and cooperatively with team members.
  • Understanding of behavior change methodology
  • Nonprofit or government experience a plus.
  • Volunteer recruitment and management experience a plus.
  • Must have ability and flexibility to travel (10-15% annually)
  • Salesforce experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree a plus
  • Knowledge of Keep America Beautiful’s pillars a must (Clean – Litter and Reduce/Recycle and Green – Beautification and Restoration/Resiliency and Disaster Relief)
  • Experience managing a network of member organizations, clubs, teams or groups

The Keep America Beautiful Communities initiative is a multi-year, multi-stakeholder collaborative initiative to Clean and Green America by 2025. The goal is to raise $125 million to Beautify and Unify Communities across the country to Transform the Nation.

We are seeking an exceptional fundraising professional to join our development team to secure significant philanthropic support from national and regional foundations and federal and state government agencies.

As a leader on the Development team, the Director, Foundation and Government Grants (“Director”) will report directly to the Chief Development Officer. This role is responsible for developing effective fundraising strategies; conduct partner research, cultivation, solicitation, management, and stewardship; write, submit, and negotiate grant applications; and direct recognition and benefits related to foundation and government partner commitments. The Director will be expected to exceed annual revenue targets by identifying and securing multiple six- and seven-figure foundation and government grants and partnerships.

What You Will Bring, Do, and Own

  • You will own the generation of foundation and government partners resulting in revenue, community impact and awareness of Keep America Beautiful, its Communities Initiative, and the Keep America Beautiful national affiliate network.
  • You will cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective 6-7-figure foundation and government grants to support Keep America Beautiful and the movement programs and activations.
  • You will support and enhance the creation of the Keep America Beautiful Communities strategy, timeline, budget, and presentation materials.
  • You will own, establish, and manage strategies, budgets, annual work plan with qualitative goals, benchmarks and reporting based on departmental objectives.
  • You will interact with Keep America Beautiful board members and senior leadership representatives to cultivate foundation and government relationships; create best strategies and connectivity for each prospect; lead and/or support meetings/presentations with prospects; work with all appropriate team members to maximize strategy to achieve $280 million 10-year goal.
  • You will collaborate with Regional Directors, COO, and affiliates to ensure grants are activated, relationships are managed appropriately, and stewardship plans are implemented all resulting in contract renewals. (Day-to-day execution of program partnership managed by Regional Director.)
  • You will own the maintenance of a portfolio and move prospects through the “Moves Management” process, recording all activities in Salesforce.

Who You Are

  • You have established relationships with national foundations and government agencies, and proven success securing six- and seven-figure grants.
  • You are a results- and deadline-oriented self-starter with an entrepreneurial, collaborative, positive, forward-thinking and innovative spirit.
  • You have the ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling to prospects, donors and other stakeholders.
  • You have very high emotional intelligence (E.Q.), possibility thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • You have an ability to meet deadlines, prioritize conflicting needs; handle requests and projects expeditiously, proactively, and follow them through to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • You have outstanding communication and organizational skills with an ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • You are ok with occasional travel, nationally and/or locally (approx.. 20% of the time).
  • You have a demonstrated passion for mission of Keep America Beautiful and its national movement; interest/knowledge in environmental issues.

Experience and Certifications You Will Need

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of foundation and/or government development experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent; master’s degree a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), virtual platforms (Microsoft Teams, RingCentral, Zoom, etc.), and experience with web-based case management / CRM software.

Officer. The Keep America Beautiful Communities initiative is a multi-year, multi-stakeholder collaborative
initiative to Clean and Green America by 2025. The goal is to raise $125 million to Beautify and Unify
Communities across the country to Transform the Nation. The Director/Co-Lead will be expected to meet annual
revenue targets by identifying and securing corporate and corporate foundation gifts and partnerships, as well
as manage relationships with these partners with assistance from a Regional Director or Partnership Manager.

What You Will Bring, Do, and Own
● You will own the generation of corporate and corporate foundation partnerships resulting in revenue,
marketing exposure, and other benefits for Keep America Beautiful, its Communities Initiative, and the
Keep America Beautiful national affiliate network.
● You will cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective 6-7-figure corporate donors/partners to support Keep
America Beautiful and the movement through sponsorships, program and philanthropic support, and
cause marketing.
● You will collaborate work in conjunction with Regional Directors, COO, and affiliates to ensure
partnerships are activated, relationships are managed appropriately, and stewardship plans are
implemented all resulting in contract renewals. (Day-to-day management of partnership managed by
Regional Director.)
● You will develop, support, and enhance the creation of the Keep America Beautiful Communities
strategy, timeline, budget, and presentation materials; audit existing assets/benefits, create new
assets/benefits with program, marketing, development teams and affiliates to create
packages/opportunities for each component of the Keep America Beautiful Communities initiative.
● You will own the research, cultivation, and securing of event fundraising support including Keep America
Beautiful webinar series, National Conference, annual Vision for America Award event, employee
engagement activities, P2P, and special events sponsors.
● You will interact with Keep America Beautiful board members and senior leadership representatives to
cultivate corporate partnerships, create best strategy and connectivity for each prospect; Lead and/or
support meetings/presentations with prospects; Act as development lead for Keep America Beautiful
Communities advisory team; Work with all appropriate team members to maximize strategy to achieve
$280 million 10-year goal.

Who You Are
● You have the ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling to
prospects, donors and other stakeholders.
● You have a keen ability to ideate and develop comprehensive donor concept papers and proposals, and
create and deliver PowerPoint presentations.
● You have a proven track record in supporting organizational leadership in donor cultivation,
communications, and events.
● You have very high emotional intelligence (E.Q.), possibility thinking, and problem-solving ability.
● You have an ability to meet deadlines, prioritize conflicting needs; handle requests and projects
expeditiously, proactively, and follow them through to successful completion, often with deadline
pressures.
● You have outstanding communication and organizational skills with an ability to work effectively with
multiple stakeholders.
● You have excellent written, presentation, and verbal communications skills; careful attention to details
● You are ok with occasional travel, nationally and/or locally (approximately 20% of the time).
● You have a demonstrated passion for mission of Keep America Beautiful and its national movement;
interest/knowledge in environmental issues.

Experience and Certifications You Will Need
● Minimum of 7-10 years of corporate fundraising experience with progressively increasing responsibility
and a proven track record.
● Demonstrated success in securing 6- and 7-figure gifts.
● Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), virtual platforms (Microsoft Teams,
RingCentral, Zoom, etc.), and experience with web-based case management / CRM software.
● Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent; master’s degree a plus.
● Experience with national or global federated organizational model, a plus.
