STAMFORD, Conn. (June 19, 2017) – Dickinson Brands Inc., the world’s leading distributor of Witch Hazel-based beauty and personal care will donate $1 towards planting pollinator gardens for every new follower of their @DickinsonsWitchHazel Instagram page to celebrate National Pollinator Week. Each follow will automatically contribute to the brands’ donation of Dickinson’s Pollinator Gardens (up to a $15,000 value) to support the work of Keep America Beautiful, the iconic community improvement nonprofit organization.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of the Interior have designated June 19-25, 2017 as “National Pollinator Week” to address the issue of declining pollinator populations. The Instagram-based campaign will run from June 19, the start of National Pollinator Week, through National Planting Day on Sept. 9, the national Keep America Beautiful initiative which promotes overall pollinator health and celebrates native ecosystems.

In the winter, when all of the flowers have withered away, bees and other pollinators rely on winter-blooming plants like Witch Hazel to gather and store pollen. That pollen is then used during the winter and early spring to feed baby bees. Dickinson’s Pollinator Gardens are designed to include winter, spring and summer blooming plants so pollinators have a year round source of pollen.

“Dickinson’s is proud to help beautify communities and support pollinator health through our partnership with Keep America Beautiful,” said Bryan Jackowitz, President of Dickinson Brands Inc. “National Pollinator Week and National Planting Day are times to celebrate our ecosystem and spread the word about ways to help pollinators flourish across the country. Since 1866, our company has produced tried & true, multi-benefit witch hazel skincare and values the timeless impact and countless benefits of a strong pollinator community.”

In addition to the brand’s donation pledge, starting today, Dickinson’s is encouraging consumers to post images of local wildflowers that support pollinator health, using hashtag #WitchHazelFeedsBees on Instagram for a chance to be randomly selected to receive a Dickinson’s product gift pack and a personal Witch Hazel pollinator garden.

“National Planting Day is a call-to-action designed to mobilize Americans to support local ecosystems by planting native species,” said Helen Lowman, President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful. “Our friends at Dickinson’s understand the vital importance of pollinator health and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership to ‘Keep America Bee-utiful’ by encouraging people to plant pollinators and other natives that strengthen our nation’s green infrastructure and make communities environmentally healthier, economically stronger and more socially connected.”
