Keep America Beautiful Announces

New Board Chair and Board Members

Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s leading community improvement nonprofit organization, announced several appointments to its Board of Directors. Board Secretary Kara Calderon, who serves as senior director of Environmental Sustainability and Governance for Reynolds American Inc., was named as the new board chair. She succeeds outgoing Board Chair Greg Jozwiak of Dow, Inc.

“Kara Calderon has been a strong supporter and friend to Keep America Beautiful for many years and we’re pleased to have the benefit of her marketing and leadership experience as we embark on a bold call to action to America in the run-up to our nation’s 250th anniversary,” Keep America Beautiful President and CEO Jennifer Lawson said. “I want to express our appreciation to Greg Jozwiak for his years of board leadership. During his tenure, he guided us through significant change with thoughtfulness and expertise, helping us chart an exciting path built on our legacy of environmental stewardship that points us firmly towards the future.”

“Serving as Keep America Beautiful’s board chair is an honor both personally and professionally,” Calderon said. “As a board, we have an important role to play in inspiration and education for people of all ages to improve and beautify their communities. I look forward to us maximizing the opportunities to deepen Keep America Beautiful’s impact across the country.”

Keep America Beautiful also announced the appointment of two new board members: Jay Finnane, a Principal with EY based out of Detroit, and Jason Leiker, Associate Vice President at AT&T for Environmental Sustainability & Governance.

“Jay Finnane and Jason Leiker bring expertise in business strategy and governance, social and environmental impact measurement and deep enthusiasm for the mission, and will be strong additions to the board,” Lawson said.

Keep America Beautiful also announced that long-time Board Member Tom Waldeck, who recently retired from his position of President and CEO, Keep Phoenix Beautiful, will be transitioning to emeritus status.

“Tom has been a dedicated advocate for community improvement, and we are grateful for his service,” Lawson said. “We feel very fortunate that we’ll be able to continue tapping into his wisdom and experience.”
