Keep America Beautiful partnered with athletic shoe manufacturer Saucony on Global Running Day to encourage runners to plog.

In support of Keep America Beautiful, Saucony celebrated Global Running Day on June 6, 2018, with a plogging event. Some Keep America Beautiful staff members joined Saucony employees for the event, which took place near the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts.

A combination of the Swedish term ‘plocka upp’ (meaning ‘pick up’) and jogging, plogging is the act of picking up litter while running. Combining going for a jog with intermittent squatting, the activity is designed to generate exercise benefits from what might otherwise be considered an unglamorous public service.

As part of the partnership, Saucony also donated 20 percent of proceeds from its U.S. site on Global Running Day to Keep America Beautiful.

Saucony is continuing its efforts to #DoBeautifulThings by hosting Great American Cleanup Runs across the country. The events encourage people plog as they help clean up their communities in a fun and unique way. Voluntary donations will go to Keep America Beautiful.
