Bright n’ Beautiful successfully teamed up with the Billings Parks Department to seek a Keep America Beautiful/Lowe’s Community Partner Grant to address local food insecurity.
The Lowe’s Community Partner Grant funded a greenhouse for the Amend Park Community Garden in Billings, Montana. The Garden is located in a food desert and targets families experiencing poverty. Despite several weather delays, the greenhouse was constructed by the efforts of local volunteers, Bright n’ Beautiful and the Billings Parks Department staff. The greenhouse will extend the growing season for community garden participants allowing them to start their own plants and grow some produce during cooler months. Additionally, it will increase outreach efforts to neighboring elementary schools by the Billings Parks Department, furthering the effort to encourage and promote local nutritious food.
