The Keep America Beautiful® TrashDash initiative, created to bring plogging to neighborhoods across the country, works similarly to a run, with the primary difference being the picking up of litter throughout the route.

Who: All ages welcome!

What: 2nd Annual Keep America Beautiful TrashDash – a plogging fun run event

When: Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020

Where: Anywhere in your own community

Why: Bring an end to litter and to create cleaner, greener, safer communities for all

“We want everyone to be safe during the pandemic, and an essential part of community health is ensuring that trash ends up where it belongs, in the bin.”

Helen Lowman, Phd, President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful

Since the very beginnings of the pandemic, Keep America Beautiful® has been clear that the health and safety of our communities and volunteers is our civic responsibility and our top priority.

Due to concerns regarding the increased transmission rate of COVID-19, Keep America Beautiful is shifting the Stamford TrashDash™ scheduled for Sunday 9/20 from an organized group event to individual plogging activities. This is 100% aligned with the TrashDash plan for the rest of the country.

All cleanups should adhere to guidelines from federal, state, and local public health officials so timely and accurate information can guide safe and appropriate activities in each location.

How can I participate?

  • Who: Anyone
  • When: Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020
  • Where: Anywhere in your local community
  • Share on Instagram #TrashDash #DoBeautifulThings

Registration is free! Register as an individual or form a TrashDash team. Grab a bag, gloves, and a litter picker if you have one and pick up litter in your neighborhood, local park, or on a nearby trail or beach. Once completed, share your experience on Instagram – be sure to tag @KeepAmericaBeautiful and include the hashtags #DoBeautifulThings and #TrashDash.

We hope you will partner with us and take some time to practice an individual (or cohort group) act of kindness by helping keep your neighborhood clean, green, and beautiful.  We encourage everyone, everywhere, to take a moment on Sunday to get outside and pick up some litter!  When you do, please share on Instagram tagging @keepamericabeautiful and using the #TrashDash and #dobeautifulthings.

On behalf of our 650 affiliates and millions of volunteers we want to thank our partners, Dart Corporation, The City of Stamford, Mill River Park, Earth Day Network, National Cleanup Day, and Let’s Do it World.

We look forward to seeing you all online sharing and celebrating a positive impact in your community!

One Day. One Action. One Movement.
