Keep America Beautiful Rings Nasdaq Opening Bell in Honor of America Recycles Day
Event Highlights National Commitment to Recycling and Waste Reduction
NEW YORK, NY, November 13, 2024 – Keep America Beautiful® President and CEO Jennifer Lawson was joined by corporate partners, including iHeartMedia, and supporters to ring the opening bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square this morning in celebration of America Recycles Day®.
“We’re thrilled to ring the Nasdaq opening bell in recognition of America Recycles Day,” said Jennifer Lawson, President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful. “Recycling helps reduce waste, conserve resources, and protect the environment, enabling every American to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond. This event reminds us why recycling is vital to our country and to future generations of Americans.”
America Recycles Day, which takes place annually on November 15, is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. The day is part of Keep America Beautiful’s Greatest American Cleanup™, an initiative aiming to beautify communities nationwide by America’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
Joining Lawson at the opening bell podium was Lucinda Robb who serves as the Honorary Co-Chair of the Greatest American Cleanup.
“We’re especially pleased to have with us today First Granddaughter Lucinda Robb, whose grandmother Lady Bird Johnson championed national beautification during her time as First Lady and continues to inspire the Keep America Beautiful movement,” Lawson said.
The NASDAQ event was made possible thanks to the support of its America Recycles Day partners: Altria, Anheuser-Busch, Cirba Solutions, IBWA, Kimberly-Clark, Niagara Cares, Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, and Veggie Wash.
