Athens, Ga. – Volunteers put their New Year’s resolutions into practice on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service by helping to plant 30,000 daffodil bulbs on the Atlanta Highway Loop on and off ramps. Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful got the bulbs packed and ready for planting prior to volunteers gathering at the East Athens Community Center for the Athens MLK Day of Service kickoff.
The Atlanta Highway Ramp Beautification was one of sites hosting volunteers. The other five volunteer events that took place were the Brooklyn Cemetery Cleanup and Beautification; Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery Cleanup; Henderson Extension Cemetery Clearing; Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary Trail Clearing; and the West Broad Market Garden.
