Keep Blount Beautiful celebrated its 25th anniversary of being a Keep America Beautiful affiliate with a week of awesome Earth Day events.

On April 22, Keep Blount Beautiful (KBB) hosted an Earth Day Recycling Collection and Rain Barrel Sale.

The drive-through event was assisted by Spectra Environmental Group. They collected lightbulbs, televisions, old electronics and appliances, and offered document shredding. Keep Blount Beautiful hopes this event will help further spread education about how to properly dispose of and recycle items for the betterment of its community.

On April 27, KBB held the “Pints for a Purpose” event with Little River Trading Company and Cycology Bicycles at the Switchback Craft Beer Tavern. The event featured beer, food, and raffle items, including a custom-painted rain barrel. On April 28, KBB celebrated Arbor Day at the Blount County Public Library with a children’s event in which KBB coordinated a recycled tree craft program. KBB hosted a “Drug Take Back Day” on April 29 at the Blount County Justice Center, where they collected unused or old medication for proper disposal.

KBB has worked tirelessly the past 25 years to fulfill its mission — “to encourage and educate Blount County residents to take action to improve and beautify their community.”

KBB is always seeking new volunteers. Check the calendar on its site for upcoming events!
