New York affiliate takes new, innovative approach to Great American Cleanup

Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful (KMVB), which covers six counties in New York, has launched a project for people to continue their commitment to the environment, even during a global pandemic. KMVB’s initiative called the “QuaranTeam” Cleanup encourages individuals and families who are quarantined to break up their day, go outside, and clean up litter around their property and surrounding area.

“We intend to have adults and children in the six-county Mohawk Valley Region take action to work on beautifying and cleaning areas across their communities while adhering to federal, state and local public health guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Sam Russo, Chair of KMVB Committee.

KMVB is asking groups to register and report their projects, which will enter them into a drawing that will take place following the conclusion of the Great American Cleanup on Oct. 18. KMVB is also advising volunteers to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while picking up litter.
