Keep Philadelphia Beautiful believes that education is one of the most effective ways to discourage littering and encourage recycling and waste reduction.

In 2014, Keep Philadelphia Beautiful (KPB) recruited a team of superstar volunteer educators to travel across the City of Philadelphia to provide no-cost in-classroom presentations on litter prevention, recycling and composting in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia and its Streets Department.

This past semester (January to June of 2017) was KPB’s biggest yet – reaching approximately 2,300 students in every section of Philadelphia. Since KPB started this program, its educators have spoken to 7,864 students. KPB has also conducted teacher training sessions to assist educators in follow-up green action at their schools.
