Akron, Ohio – Lowe’s Heroes, employee volunteers from the Lowe’s of Fairlawn store in Akron, Ohio, have made a number of significant contributions in their hometown.

The generosity of the Lowe’s Heroes touched the Batter Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties as volunteers gave the landscaping surrounding the entrance of the shelter a makeover, adding new shrubs and flowers, mulch, hanging baskets, and gravel beds. Using tools from Keep Akron Beautiful’s Community Pride Trailer, Lowe’s employees were able to provide a landscape makeover that has had a positive impact on the lives of residents. Lowe’s of Fairlawn continues to be an invaluable community partner to Keep Akron Beautiful by graciously donating supplies to supplement the equipment list of Keep Akron Beautiful’s Community Pride Trailer.

The Lowe’s Heroes also built a new gated entrance for Derby Downs, the racetrack for the International Soapbox Derby. During the summer of 2015, employees helped to install a new gate that would deter vandals from entering onto the grounds and damaging property during the off season.
