Residents visiting area parks and sports fields can expect to see cleaner public parks thanks to a significant grant made possible by Dr Pepper Snapple Group in collaboration with Keep America Beautiful.

In 2017, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group/Keep America Beautiful Park Recycling Bin Grant Program is funding 20 new recycling bins, which will be placed in Idlewild and Wingfield Parks, at the sports fields at Hilltop Park, Jack Tighe Fields and the Terrace Sports Complex, and at the baseball/softball fields Swope and Vaughn Middle Schools in Reno, making recycling easier for local residents enjoying the outdoors.

“Recycling and sustainability go hand in hand,” said Reno City Councilmember Jenny Brekhus. “These new bins will make it even easier for Reno to get in the habit of recycling and compliment our household recycling program.”

Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) is assisting with the program by surveying the new recycling sites during the annual litter index to measure their effectiveness. KTMB has been dedicated to beautification, advocating for a clean community, and organizing cleanups and education in the Truckee Meadows region for more than 25 years.
