April may be Keep America Beautiful Month and the height of the Great American Cleanup program period, but around Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, it’s yet another “LitterBlitz” season!

Employees of integrated marketing agency Saxum (above) demonstrate the fun spirit behind why so many volunteers participate in OKC Beautiful’s “LitterBlitz” on an annual basis.

OKC Beautiful has been involved in litter abatement since it was founded 48 years ago. LitterBlitz, which launched 16 years ago, takes place in April during the Great American Cleanup. The program is a partnership with the City of Oklahoma City and OKC Beautiful. Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett invites businesses, neighborhood associations, and other organizations to get involved. OKC Beautiful coordinates hundreds of groups, large and small, who pick up litter during April.

OKC Beautiful Executive Director Lisa Synar projects more than 11,000 volunteers will engage in this year’s program, topping last year’s total of 10,000 volunteers who picked up more than 181,0000 pounds of litter and debris.
