This Year’s Keep America Beautiful Cleanup Is Recycling Plastic, Funding Seabins And Seeking Volunteers

The seeking volunteers part is nothing new, but the 2021 Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup includes a plastics recycling program and grants for Seabin devices that collect marine debris.

The 23rd annual cleanup began in March and runs to June 20. It’s dubbed as the nation’s largest community improvement program. This year’s event is ongoing while the country continues to deal with the pandemic and added, associated litter like personal protective equipment (PPE).

“Given the lingering physical distancing and restrictions on large group gatherings, we expect the number of large (Great American Cleanup) litter collection events to remain limited this year,” says Randy Hartmann, senior director at Keep America Beautiful.
