Among the unsung volunteer heroes that help make Keep America Beautiful and its community-based affiliates’ work possible, are the thousands of individuals who either serve on our national and local nonprofit boards of directors or help raise much-needed funding. Bob Krumroy, a former Greensboro Beautiful board member and current volunteer fundraiser, exemplifies the volunteer spirit that is so critical in making our local affiliates thrive.

After decades as an award-winning sales and marketing executive in the insurance and financial services industry, Bob certainly knows a thing or two about how to market products and services. On behalf of Greensboro Beautiful in Greensboro, North Carolina, Bob has used his professional gifts to help lead many of the affiliate’s successful fundraising endeavors.

For example, he has spearheaded the funding of a Donor Cultivation Program, which included the development of a Business Partners Program for businesses that donated $500 and more. This initiative also included the development of the Cornerstone Society for individuals who donated $250 or more. He also instituted the “Good Night Moon” Gala and Silent Auction fundraiser, which includes sponsorships and an ad-filled gala program as another avenue to raise funds. Bob also encouraged the production of a promotional piece, which focused on how Greensboro’s four public gardens play such an important role in the lives of members of the community.

Bob’s dedication and work has helped strengthen Greensboro Beautiful’s fundraising efforts by increasing both board and individual giving. Just recently, Greensboro Beautiful announced that it exceeded a Matching Gift Challenge. If the organization raised $10,000 in Board and Advisory Board gifts and contributions from new or lapsed business donors, they could receive a $10,000 matching gift. Bob played a big role in this accomplishment.

Greensboro Beautiful – and Keep America Beautiful – thank Bob Krumroy for his outstanding generosity and for his efforts in challenging the Greensboro Beautiful Board and Advisory Board to strengthen their Annual Gifts Campaign. Funds raised through this challenge grant will be used to help support Greensboro Beautiful’s special events in the public gardens in 2017.
